Wilsons Carpets was born and bred in South Yorkshire. In 1968 company founder Bill Wilson opened a small carpet shop in Thorne, Doncaster to provide the local community with great products, individual customer service and competitive prices.
Today, that ethos remains, yet the business has now grown to be the largest independent flooring retailer in the region with multiple stores across three counties. Wilsons Carpets is one of just five Rotherham based businesses listed in the London Stock Exchange Group's '1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain' report, which identifies the UK's most dynamic and fastest growing small and medium sized enterprises.
Established in 1968
Wilsons Carpets is still a family owned business to this day and is celebrating its 58th anniversary in 2026. At its head remain members of the Wilson family, including Bill Wilson's son and grandsons, each ensuring that the original ethos remains at the company's core: "Amazing Prices. Every Day. The business continues to innovate and reinvest in stores and infrastructure and recruit new talent from the industry, whilst also investing in training to help ensure the best service for their customers.

Wilsons Carpets stock over 1.5 million square metres of flooring. The largest stock in the region by far. From carpet, laminate, Vinyl, LVT and artificial grass. Stores also offer a large range of quality handmade beds and mattresses in a choice of contemporary styles and designs.
